Harrison’s maintaining power. Engraved cock with diamond endstone in a blue steel setting, gilt regulator. Plain gilt four arm balance, spiral blue steel hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, large brass escape wheel. Convex off white enamel dial, Roman numerals, gold hands. Purpose made mid 19th Century silver engine turned full hunter case, engine turned middle. Maker’s mark "RF" in a rectangle.
In excellent overall condition. The case, hallmarked London 1841, appears unused, the engine turning still crisp. Casemaker Richard Foreman, 36 White's Row - Spitalfields, 1839 - 1849. Brockbank produced these brass calibre movements incorporating most of the escapements common at the time. Steel was only used where necessary to minimise the effect of magnetism.
