John Haighton M.D. FRS.
John Haighton M.D. FRS. Lecturer on Midwifery and Physiology at Guy’s Hospital. Engraved by Kennerly after the original work by Ashby. Published in 1818 by Elizabeth Cox & Son, St Thomas's Street, Southwark. Born in Lancashire around 1755, Haighton had worked under Cline, at St. Thomas’, and the famous surgeon, John Hunter. Early in his career Haighton had been considered for assistant to Hunter when he was lecturing. Haighton qualified M.D. at London and lectured on midwifery and physiology at Guy's and St. Thomas's Hospitals, as well as lecturing on midwifery and obstetrics at an anatomy theatre in Southwark in collaboration with William Lowder. He died in 1823. Within a good replica moulding frame with a gilt and sanded slip. Item Code: 5777
