Victorian Pool of Light Rock Crystal Heart Locket 9ct Gold
A fabulous heart-shaped ‘Pool of Light’ rock crystal locket set in 9ct gold. Formed as a puffy heart, this rare locket is a true stand-out piece. The curved rock crystal domes are in excellent condition, catching the light beautifully and glowing against bare skin or layered over a vibrant top. The 9ct gold frame and hinge are also in excellent condition. The locket opens smoothly, closes securely, and the bail is generously sized to suit a variety of chains. This piece looks incredible on—eye-catching, elegant, and wonderfully unique. I was thrilled to find one of these, and a heart-shaped example is even more rare. Pools of Light jewellery first became cherished in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, from the 1880s into the early 1900s. People were fascinated by the way undrilled rock crystal appears to hold its own inner glow—almost like a tiny captured universe of light. Victorian women often wore these pieces in photos because the crystal caught the light beautifully. They wore them not just for looks, but also because they believed rock crystal brought calm, protection, and good luck. Style it with a spring bolt ring for a bold look, or wear it as a striking standalone piece. Either way, this locket takes centre stage as true neck art.
