A fabulous and striking amethyst pendant necklace, dating from around 1860. This exquisite piece features a beautifully oval-cut amethyst, elegantly set within a delicate cornflower blue and white enamel border. The enamel is glossy and has minimal loss despite its age. The design is further enhanced by a charming palmette motif, complemented with intricate granulation and ropetwist detailing.
The pendant hangs from a unique belcher link chain, secured with a push clasp adorned with a smaller circular-cut amethyst.
The chain is stamped 9c. Measurements include a pendant length of 6.5 cm and a chain length of 45.0 cm, with a total weight of 29.8 grams.
This beautiful necklace is absolutely a bold statement piece that perfectly echoes the era of extravagance and the exquisite beauty so characteristic of that remarkable time.
Looks absolutely fabulous when worn, and I especially love the additional amethyst detail at the back. It looks truly brilliant, especially when your hair is styled up, beautifully showcasing its charm from both the front and back.
