This French cross pendant from the 1840s is crafted in 18k solid gold, set with topaz and citrines backed with red foil. When light reflects from the metal foil, the citrines show an interplay of red, yellow, and orange tones. This “oil and vinegar” colour effect is especially visible across the small stones, shifting with angle and light. Elongated teardrop terminals extend the proportions and give the cross a more animated outline. At the centre, a square-cut topaz anchors the composition.
