English Belle Époque platinum diamond and pearl necklace, c.1900
This English necklace from the early 1900s is crafted in platinum and gold, set with old-cut diamonds and a single natural pearl. It exemplifies the refined elegance of the Belle Époque period (1890–1915), particularly the era’s celebrated taste for “white jewelry”—a style defined by its airy platinum settings and luminous white gems. The necklace centers on a snowflake-inspired pendant suspended from a fine chain. Two symmetrical diamond clusters are joined by a softly swaying pearl, creating a graceful vertical silhouette. The front is finished in platinum to enhance reflectivity, while the reverse features an open-back setting to maximize brilliance and fire. Intricate milgrain edges frame the radiating structure, echoing the era’s passion for delicate craftsmanship and balanced composition. Light, romantic, and exquisitely executed, this piece captures the very essence of Belle Époque jewelry design. Now available on our website.
