French Romantic era imperial topaz star pendant c.1830–1850
This French Romantic-period pendant from c.1830–1850 is crafted in silver and set throughout with imperial topaz (gemstone tested), converted from its original use as a hat pin. The star’s elongated and slender form is completely inset with imperial topaz, with a two-tiered structure that brings three-dimensional depth while preserving an overall light, elegant silhouette. The design is graceful yet detailed, reflecting Romanticism’s love for nature and attention to personal, sensory beauty. Imperial topaz is a rare natural stone, discovered in 1768 and later crowned “imperial” in the 19th century for its royal associations and exceptional quality. Now available on our website.
