English Edwardian celestial sapphire and diamond pendant, c.1910
This English Edwardian pendant from c.1910 is crafted in 57.96% gold (~14k). It is set with a 3.68-carat sapphire, certified as Ceylon in origin, together with old-mine-cut diamonds.
The structure is clean and symmetrical: the substantial cushion-cut sapphire, of deep night-sky blue, anchors the center, while old-mine-cut diamonds radiate outward along slim gold bars to meet the circular frame. Open-backed settings allow each stone to capture light, heightening their brilliance. The design reads like a celestial map—one glowing body orbited by points of light—an elegant reflection of Edwardian jewelers’ precision and their taste for airy, jewel-focused compositions.
